Went at 7:15am and was already quite busy, so I suggest you go early if you want to avoid crowds.
Cost $1.50 to enter per person. Kids might be free?
Lots and lots of fruit and veggies to choose from at fairly low prices. Just double check everything as we bought some dodgy smelling asparagus (didn't realise at the time).
Will be back!
Fresh vegetables and fruits directly from farmers. Much cheaper than buying from supermarkets. Price goes further down while approaching the closing time, say after 11:00am. For onions, potatoes, carrots etc., buy in bulk quantities to get the best possible price.
I recently visited the Gepps Cross market and found it to be a mixed bag. On the one hand, the market had a good selection of fruit and vegetable stalls, as well as second-hand goods and other items such as eggs and nuts. The entry fees were also quite cheap at only $1.50. However, I did have a negative experience when I felt like I was short-changed by one of the sellers.
If you do visit the market, I would recommend going early to get the best selection of fresh produce. Later in the day, you may be able to find some bargains as the sellers try to reduce their inventory. And don't be afraid to haggle – it's expected and can help you get a better deal. Just be aware of potential issues with sellers short-changing customers. Overall, the Gepps Cross market is worth a visit if you're looking for a cheap and interesting outing.
I love to spend each Sunday morning there. Support local... Fresh and cheap
One of my favourite markets. The atmosphere is great .... if you're up early Sunday morning consider starting the day at Gepps Cross markets. The fruit and veg will costs you no more than about 20 for the whole week. This market is old school.... love it.
Prices are varied and so is the quality of fresh produce.
Lanes vary in width from a wide easy to navigate to narrow barely wide enough for two people to pass. Difficult for prams, wheelchairs and those with hand trolleys to move easily around. Good coffee.
Some good bargains to be found.
It opens very early morning even before people normally wake up. U can park your car close to the shops which is very convenient. If you love fruit and veg this is the right place where you can get everything in a reasonable price. Most importantly very fresh items. I personally think, It could also be tittled a farmers market as mostly farmers are the seller here.
Good value fruit and vegetables. Looks like the fruit supermarkets don't want but still very good. Bought heaps myself as I found the stalls better value than the central market and just as fresh. 9/10
